"In quietness and confidence shall be your strength. "
Isaiah 30:15
Be Still My Soul
by Ruth Wallace
Be still my soul, do you so soon forget that God is here?
Be still and let the vision of His majesty appear;
Your ceaseless churnings blur the view
Of all He would become to you...
Be still, be silent in the awe that God, your God is near.
Be still, be still in confidence that God is in control.
And do not be destroyed by what you hear and see, my soul;
These for truth will give instead
A lie for all that God has said,
And leave you at the bottom of a dark and endless hole.
|
But let a holy quietness keep you through this day
In selflessness and willingness that seeks to know His way;
For then you'll see as God can see,
The things that are and are to be,
Are manifest that God can prove the might He would display.
It seems we know not how to know that He is God until Our souls
are taught by Him to see they must be still, be still, And learn
in patience to believe He's greater than our cause to grieve When
unbelief would tell us that we cannot do His will.
But in the stillness is revealed the secret of God's power; The
strong but quiet voice that makes His enemies to cower, And
causes hearts in ways unknown To live in hope of God alone,
Every passing moment every day and every hour. |
